Auditions for Robinson Crusoe

Monday 20 October 2008 at 7.30pm
@ Millfield Primary School, Littleport

Character Parts

Old Man of the Sea - Nasty. Determined to obtain the treasure for himself and only brought under control by the Fairy of the Seven Seas. Male.

Fairy of the Seven Seas - A helpful Fairy Queen type who opposes the evil Old Man of The Sea - Female.

Mrs Crusoe - A traditional Dame who gets her man. Male or Female

Robinson Crusoe - The hero. Plays opposite Polly Perkins - Male or Female

Silly Billy - Younger son of Mrs Crusoe. The childrens' friend with whom he strikes up a relationship by getting them to guard his hat - Male.

Polly Perkins - Girlfriend of Robinson Crusoe and Principal Girl - Female.

Topsy Tervey - Girlfriend of Billy. Determined to take care of him. Female

Will Atkins - Sea Capt of the Saucy Sal. A nasty, who reforms at the end under the watchful eye of Mrs Crusoe - Male

Jolly Roger - An accident prone robber, who cannot get anything right and is unconscious most of the time - Male

Doleful Debbie - Girlfriend and assistant to Roger. Causes a lot of the accidents and has her mind of catching chicken. Female

Witch Doctor - A fearsome cannibal - Male/Female

Man Friday - Rescused by Robinson from the cannibal Witch Doctor and who becomes a loyal friend and servant to Robinson in return - Male

Night Watchman - Small part with a few lines at the beginning of the play - Male.

General chorus and dancers - merchants, shoppers, sailors, under-sea creatures, dancers and cannibals.


Please note if you are new to the group and wish to apply for a main character, please bring along with you something to sing, either sheet music or backing track. Otherwise, auditions will consist of dialogue only. We are a friendly group and invite all new members to audition – it is not a daunting experience and we are all there to enjoy ourselves so don’t be put off by the word “audition”.
